Overview

ThinkHazard! is a free, open-source tool from the World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) that translates complex global hazard models into simple, actionable risk ratings. Enter a location and it returns a rating for each of 11 natural hazards — including river flood, coastal flood, urban flood, earthquake, cyclone, water scarcity, and extreme heat — with guidance on reducing impacts.

Key features

  • Coverage for over 190 countries down to district level
  • Eleven hazard types rated from “very low” to “high”
  • Plain-language recommendations and further-resource links per hazard
  • Shareable, printable hazard reports for project documentation

Who it’s for

Planners, project managers, and policymakers who need a fast first-pass hazard screen before commissioning detailed spatial analysis.
